HELP! Broadband installed, but my phone doesn't work

I've installed Tesco Broadband onto my new computer and it's all working fine - I'm logged in here to type this message, but the landline telephone that is plugged into the same system is no longer working... there's no ringing tone from here and if I phone the number it says the number is engaged.

I'm waiting news about a job and desperately need the phone to be back on, but I have no idea. Can any of you lovely people help me.

I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, but I really do need your help.

Did you remember to install the Micro Filters (need them on any extentions as well)--- These are essential to split the bandwidth between Audio & Data Info -- Dave

Unplug modem & try with just the phone.

there should be 1 or 2 little white microfilters in the box along with the modem

The install did go OK to include the installation of the DSL filter, but I've just got back in and the phone is now working OK!
