Why are energy companies not helping us to help them ?

I'm more interested in electricity, so heating water is of lesser importance, although I'd like to, I have approached my new boiler company to ask if they would consider my house as a show house, answer was No.

I've always switched off.
I have A rated appliances and energy saving light bulbs etc
I installed double glazing.
I switched suppliers, and not sure if I'm eligible for capped just yet on my contract.

On the TV tonight, a lady said £20K for a system.
Catch 22.
What if I wanted to move, what if I wasn't around long enough for the savings ?

I'm not sure if I want a windmill in my back garden, although the wind speed would suit. I have a south facing garden.

Q : Has anyone done any research on generating your own electricity ? because I'm drawing blanks.

I've been looking into it, but so far got nowhere.

Might rig up a small system of solar panels that connect to a couple of car batteries and then use them to wire in some energy saving light bulbs and maybe some lower wattage items as we don't have many lights on at once.

Then might look into building my own wind turbine, nothing big to start with see what I can get from that.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

I believe you're wasting your time (and money) installing solar panels for generating electricity. Even for water heating purposes, the payback is many years down the line.
