Does Sky+ recordings get lost when downgrading

I have just rang sky as my three months half price is up and want to downgrade to basic package.
The lady says OK but any movies recorded will get deleted also.
Is this correct? I thought they were saved on the hard disk and couldn't be deleted by them!
Thanks in anticipation.

LBM 12.09.12 - £53K in debt.
DFD - 11.07.2019 (OMG).
New DFD is 28.10.2018 due to paying the absolute maximum.
Thanks to everyone on the DMP forum, and to SC for helping me out of this huge hole.

flipping eck! They are cheeky bu**ers. Glad I have had 1/2 price for the last 9 months!
Might have to keep the movies now, my two year old would be lost without "The Cat in the Hat".LBM 12.09.12 - £53K in debt.

you are no longer paying for the features of sky+ so why do u think you should retain the right to use them?0

I think thats outrageous! and infact its put me off even getting Sky+
If you paid for the movie (in subsription) then you should keep it!
grant1wish, you'd most probably be better off buying the DVD than keeping the movies going!

My understanding and from what the folk at digitalspy say is that the programme will stay in the planner i.e. it won't be deleted, you just won't be able to watch it. The reason you can't watch it is because the recording is decoded as it is being played, as you haven't subscribed to that channel the box can't decode the stream.
I recently downgraded to the Sports and Movies 1 package. I had something recorded on SM2 before the downgrade. I couldn't watch it but it wasn't deleted.
Another interesting thing is that I can still record stuff from SM2 but I can't view it, if I upgraded my package again I would be able to watch it.
Why it should be putting you off sky+ is beyond me. How many times are you going to upgrade/downgrade? The benefits far outweigh the negatives.0 -

I find it a bit of an insult that you cant replay something youve already paid for. You pay for a months worth of TV, surely that months worth is yours regardless whether you stop or not?

I still have a VCR and if that was the case would just copy them on to that before Sky took the channel away.0
