Flight fuel surcharges- is my quote right

Hi I wonder if anyone can advise on fuel surcharges and holiday quotations.Ive had a quote via holiday hypermarket for a particlar long haul holiday and was told the flight price included taxes and surcharges. On attempting to book the holiday the price increased by £650. The company said this was due to fuel surcharges.Im confused, I understand that fuel charges have rocketed- but not SINCE I priced the holiday- the prices were given to me last week - so surely the fuel price was just as high last week- so why the increase in week? Anyone kow how this works, I was definately told the original qoute included taxes and surcharges within the flight prices but 1 week later the surcharge has taken the holiday way outside my budget Will all the quotes I get be just as unreliable- it makes affordable hols unaffordable when you come to pay.

no it would have not gone up by £650...

    maybe £30 / £60 but not 10 times this!

It could easily have been £650 if it was on Thai, and was a holiday for 3 people.

Priced up a Thai flight to Sydney today - taxes & surcharges were £580, more than the cost of the ticket.
  • Hi, It was flights with Quantas priced on 2/7/08 at £926 went up to £1347.40 7/7/08
reason given as fuel surcharges for the difference in price- holiday was for 2 adults.

it is probably that the price of the flights have gone up, as the cheapest tickets have been booked..

your travel company, could be just blaming fuel surcharges for the rise..

AFAIK, Qantas havn't increased their fuel surcharge since early June (could be wrong).

Have you tried getting a quote from another company, that would give you a sense of prices?
