I'm thinking of having a re jig of my bank accounts ...

I'm thinking of moving away from Lloyds, seeing as they have recently cocked up on the credit card statement front, my address change, and also due to the fact that they paid me a pitiful 29p interest on my savings account for the year, which I have had for some while.
I have also recently inherited a fair old amount of money, around the £30k mark, from my mother who has recently passed away. I am also a student (!) at university too.

I currently have all of my savings and current accounts with Lloyds, and my student bank account is with Natwest (none of the accounts are overdrawn, I might add).
I am thinking of moving my current account towards First Direct, as they have a reputation for good service, and you can use the fancy machines for paying stuff in at HSBC branches (I hate queuing up to pay in money), however, what are my chances of being accepted, seeing as I can't pay in a salary of £1.5k every month? Would I get away with saying I get paid by cheque and then sending in a cheque for £1500 from one of the savings accounts?
I have opened up a Kaupthing account and hope to deposit some of that amount in there, as the interest rate is favourable. But I want to spread it around a bit and not stick all of my eggs in the same basket.

Also, does any of this have to be declared on any forms for student finance, as I am now moving into my 2nd year of uni. How can I fill it out, as the person that supplied the info for the student finance is not around anymore.

Thanks for any advice you may give!

Don't worry about not paying in 1.5k a month. They'll most likely accept you if you have a good credit file (No CCJ) and have a wage. Also telling them you have 30k will help.

Sounds like Lloyds will be pleased to see the back of you. I have been with them for a number of years and always found them excellent.

Hang on, what on earth have I done to deserve your snide comment? Besides that, it's all good if you have found them to be excellent - to be fair, they have been OK up until recently, but the whole !!!! up of changing my address has made me think of moving. I have also had other problems too, whereby items from a certain period from my credit card haven't shown on the online statement for at least a week (or even later) until after the transaction date - this has happened twice and it affects all transactions done between certain dates, not just individual ones (I am aware that some may take a few days or months to appear, but for all of them to be affected - hmm, computer problem I think).

I believe a bank should act on your instructions accordingly and so what they are supposed to on the day you ask, without you having to check up and phone and nag them all the time.

I have no CCJs or anything of the sort - a wage, well, will a part time one do? (am a student).

Even if you do 'move away' from Lloyds, it may be worth continuing to keep your Lloyds account open. Its just that sometimes on financial related forms, you're asked how long you have been with your bank. I believe if its a fairly short period, it doesn't look favourably on you. I guess after a few years of First Plus or A N Other, you could cancel Lloyds as it will serve no purpose.

P.S. Sorry to hear about your Mum passed away. Hope your uni studies are going well.
