Hire cars in Newcastle

I wasn't sure where to put this at all - I could have thought of about three different places! Mods please let me know if it is wrong here.

I want to hire a car for a couple of days next week. I have used Enterprise in the past - their basic rate is cheap, but I've been stung by their 'pay the extra for fully comp insurance else you'll have to pay a minimum of £500 if the car gets damaged by anyone at all'. Can anyone recommend a company that is decent but not too expensive?

Budget and Hertz are both OK depends on if you are in any reward schemes or not

Not the airport if poss! I live in Wallsend so whereever isn't too far from there.

Ok this sounds a little devious but can you not borrow a car from a garage on the pretext of buying - I know vauxhall do that .....especially as you live local to newcastle
