vista and factory restore

i was wondering if anyone can help me, my sisters laptop must have a virus or something in in, she says her desktop keeps flashing and the screen goes blue. she wants to try doing a factory restore (she has already tried doing a recovery but it didnt work) but she doesnt have a disk.

does anyone know how to access this on her laptop and is it a simple thing to do

If the screen is flashing it might be a hardware problem so a restore would not help. Does the screen get a blue overlay or completely blue or is it a blue screen of death with writing on?
If you think it has a virus, do some virus scans.

My psychic powers have been fading recently so Im afraid I will have to ask for the make and model of the laptop before I could tell you anything

hi thomas thanks for your answer, i have no idea of what a blue screen of death is lol, but my sister says she thought it might have been because it beeps at her and then says soething about dumping memory??

if it is a hardwear problem do you think her gaurentee will cover it?

scooter my sis laptop is a Acer Aspire 5715z series, model number ic150 (i think)
