Has anyone been to Turkey this year?

Hi

I am off to Turkey on Sunday and was wondering if it was expensive and what currency to take. I have been to Turkey a few times and found it very cheap and thats why we decided to go this year, but i have heard that Turkey has gone really expensive this year and i am worrying a bit now. Me and my husband are taking our 8 year old daughter for two weeks and we are staying b&b how much do you think we should take?

Thanks in advance

Hayley

went earlier in the year and did not find it too expensive but understand that it was cheaper in previous years (think in part it depends where you are going) - there are various threads about which currency to take on the site and again it seems to depend on where you are going ?
PS went to Kalkan - took a few lira and sterling and changed it up there
    Keep the Faith:cool:

Went for 1 week in May 2 adults 2 children in marmaris SC and spent about £1000. Took all english money (a few lira for the first day) and just withdrew money from cash machines. Found the trips still good value for money, food not too bad but drinks were alot more expensive.

Myself and my 7 year old son went to Marmaris in mid-June for 1 week and spent about £300- we stayed half board. We went on excursions every day and to the Atlantis waterpark for 2 days. The food and drink prices have definately gone up this year- they are more like the prices in the UK.
With the majority of day trips, they provide lunch aswell (normally chicken, salad, pasta and bread) so it works out good value for money- sometimes if you book a boat trip they let children go for free but try and get this for as many trips as you can- including the waterpark. It is best to find restaurants away from the beach as they are usually cheaper and the service is still excellent.
    Have a good holiday!

Back from Bodrum a couple of weeks ago and as it was our first time in Turkey was surprised how far our money went. If you have been before then I suppose you will notice any difference.
Found eating out at night to be reasonable if you looked about, drinks were about 4YTL a pint and 6YTL for spirits. Excursions were also cheap in our view as we don't really do them but done a few there as they were so cheap.
One thing, if you are travelling via Bodrum airport then take your own supplies for the departure lounge on the way back as prices in the airport are horrendous:mad:
