European Breakdown Cover

Hi,

We're driving through France for a couple of weeks and we are looking for cheap breakdown cover.

I'm an RAC member (that will change when it's up for renewal). The RAC quoted £72 just for 13 days european cover! I could get a years policy with 90 days european driving included for less than that!!!

Does anyone know where I can buy 13 days european breakdown cover at a sensible price?

How about this paragraph,

Europe: Quoteline Direct £59 Phone and web broker Quotelinedirect* has an exclusive deal with Europ Assistance for a £59 annual 'AutoService' policy covering any individual vehicle (less than 20 years old) for a year. This includes home-start, and onward travel for passengers, plus up to 90 days a year cover in Europe. It's worth noting though, that if you're likely only to go to Europe once during the year, it is better to stick with a UK-only policy and take European cover out just for the specific trip (using the Moneysupermarket* comparison).

As you have said yourself it doesn't look as though there is a cheap 'add on', but i would have a look at Martins moneysupermarket link above and see what sort of quote they can can come up with.

Check your current insurance. Many of them have some form of European travel insurance built in, and may not cost much extra to add some sort of breakdown cover too, (we're with M&S insurance and they do).

Whatever you do, don't even consider Quoteline Direct. I took out a policy for a 7 day holiday to France and they were totally unresponsive. They even decined my cashback request via Quidco claiming that they had paid the referal fee elsewhere but Quidco can't say who. Based on my previous experience with them I suspect it's just a ruse to avoid paying me my cashback. Thankfully I didnt need to claim during my stay in France as they completely ignored my questions prior to me travelling. I must add that Quidco have been great and as I always use a different browser when buying anything via Quidco I can only summise it's Quoteline Direct taking my money and running!
