Subtitles on Sky TV

Over the past three days, the subtitles on Sky tv have vanished. It's not me doing something silly by trying to watch programmes that are not subtitled, and the subtitles say they are on in the system setup menu.
I can't call Sky as I am deaf, hence my reliance upon subtitles. It's no fun trying to watch my favourite programmes and lipread the characters!
I'm relunctant to e-mail Sky incase I get a system generated standard e-mail. Before I contact them, I'm wondering if anybody knows of a simple solution?
I have unplugged the sky box and plugged it back in so far. Don't know what else to do other than pray to the subtitling gods ..

There is a textphone number if you have one: 08705 40 19 10 (damn those 0870!)
I suggest you just email Sky - they are going to be the best people to deal with the problem, as they will have much more technical knowledge than most of us here on MSE.
I think some channels still run teletext subtitles on their sky broadcasts, even when there is no other text service carried.0 -
Sky subtitles very eractic these days.
I try not to watch itv ,channel 5 any programmes thats carry adverts . lost count how many times advert comes on in middle of movie and when movie comes back on subtitles never comes back on..seem like they forget to switch it back on.
