Possibly good news. I've just bought some Drontal and it's called Drontal Plus Flavour. According to the Drontal website, they're chicken flavoured:

Pet Dispensary have a 4 for 3 offer on ATM.

EDIT: Just saw Wuno's post, so nothing new here :) .
  • I push mine into a huge chunk of cheese, always works but when the vet gives it she uses a straw type thing which gets pushed to the back of the pets mouth and then she presses a button which shoots the pill at speed down the pets throat. Brilliant and the verts usually sell them. its a bit like a syring but longer. Ebay have them http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MIKKI-Pet-Dog-Cat-Pill-Tablet-Gun-Dispenser-Popper_W0QQitemZ200230925788QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item200230925788&_trksid=p3286.m14.l1318

I have the same problem with my dog..... so I hold his mouth open and OH throws them down the back of his throat. If its quickly followed by a biscuit, he doesn't seem to notice!

    Hi

I know you say you have tried everything so you have probably most likely already tried tomato sauce sarnies?!

Get a slice of bread cut it in 4 quarters. Push the pill gently into the middle of 1 quarter and put a dollop of tomato sauce on top. Put another quarter on top. Now do the same with the other 2 remaining bits so in all you have 4 similar sized quarters with sauce inside. Toss each piece in turn to your dog to catch mid air. Dont hesitate or make a fuss. Make sure the piece witht he pill in is either the 2nd or 3rd bit you throw to your dog, he wont notice the pill inside as he knows theres more to come and so he will just swallow the treats down almost whole. When hes eaten all 4 bits just carry onas if they were no different to plain sauce sandwiches. Beleive me I thought it would never work but I was amazed to find even our cat (who has pilchards in tomato sauce for her sarnies) gets fooled never mind our 2 big dogs! I know its probably the wrong message to give your dog but I always make sure I do this whilst making a sandwich for myself or have just eaten a sandwich and leave a few crusts on my plate so they think theyre getting the treat of the crusts! Crafty but it works a treat! :T

    Good luck

Not sure if its cheapest tho.

Profender is a dual tape and round wormer which goes on the back of the neck like Frontline but currently it is for cats only. There is a droncit spot-on which only does tapeworm and is probably not worth bothering with. I haven't sold any for years. I usually find a bit of ham or meat paste does the trick. Panacur granules mixed with meat paste is another option (and cheap)

My dog had to have a pill a day for the last two years of his life. he used to be a devil to get to eat it. Then a lady in a pet store told me to slice a small slice off a Mars Bar and squidge it round the pill. I tried this and it worked. He used to look forward to getting the pill! The caramel/chocolate nougat stuff sticks wonderfully around the pill, and they cannot spit it out.
A regular Mars bar used to last about 14days, as i sliced it very thinly :-)

Put a dollop of peanut butter on a tiny piece of bread or biscuit - stick the pill into the top - then stick it on the roof of the dogs mouth. By the time they have sucked and "unglued" the peanut butter the tablet will have dissolved and been swallowed in the process. Ever watched a dog try to eat a toffee? - similar process....
