How To Obtain Old Credit Card Statements

I`ve been told by the tax people that I need to obtain credit card statements for the tax year 2005 - 2006.
The problem is that I haven`t kept a record of which cards I had at that time. So, how do I find out which companies I was with, and even then, how do I get them to let me have statements for that time period?

There's a couple of options here.
Do you still have bank statements for that period for your current account? If so look back through them and see who you were making payments to. If you don't have the statements then your bank may be able to re-issue them, but will charge you for it.
The other options is to take up one of the free credit report trials. This will show the past 6 years credit history including settled (closed) accounts.
Once you know what companies to contact you can then approach them for copies - again they may charge you for this.
PS Always keep payslips, bank and credit card statements for a considerable period - you never know when they'll come in handy0 -
Completely agree with WRabbit...
Reading your post, I was about to say get a copy of your credit report to get a list of providers and write to the credit card companies for a copy of statements/bills. The companies may charge you for this privilege. I think the statutory maximum is £10.Please continue to hold the line. Your call is very important to us and will be answered by next available robot...0 -
I`ve contacted the credit card providers. Some don`t make a charge if it`s due to the Inland Revenue wanting to see the statements. Another one charges £10, and another one £5.0
