1st class train travel to london...

Last year we all went to london on virgin trains and as a special treat (hubbys birthday) we went first class. It cost £70 each return, first class both ways.
We went around the 7th September.

this year we want to go again but the fares are coming up at almost £1000 for four of us. Anyone any ideas to get a cheaper fare. We bought First Advance tickets last time, but there don't seem to be any showing up at all this year.

We are traveling from Manchester Piccadilly to Euston.

Any help, gratefully received.

I went to London in May from oop north cost 49 pounds single, first class in c breakfast, I had to book 12 weeks in advance though, and used a rail site, as Virgin were not showing the same prices on their site. I think it was trainline?

This year the 7th is a Sunday, weekend advance tickets are affected by engineering works and cheap fares not released until nearer the day. If you can travel on Monday 8th, fares are available from £260, first class, return for your group of 4. This SITE has a pretty good search facility.
