Help. No cheap trains Mancs to 2 places in Aug..

Hi all,

Its 5 and 7 weeks now until I go to Taunton and London from manchester respectively. Now before I found that the best time to book tickets cheaply is now.

But for these weekends - Taunton - Fri 15th - Mon 18th
and London - Single Sat 23rd

There are no cheap virgin or xcountry fares!!? why not? is this a change of strategy or should I wait longer etc?

Saturday fares from Manchester to London either come out late (like a week or two before) or not at all. The trains you see in the timetable will almost certainly not run as shown - they will be buses for part of the journey.

The Taunton ones should be there - if can you be more flexible on timing there may be something?

Try split ticketing at Brum and Cheltenham, maybe Bristol as well, if all else fails.

thanks for the reply. Is this because of the engineering work then? and the lack of knowledge about what will actually be required. Dont think I want to wait that long to sort it, might go on the bus instead, although its a pain!

Might ring them up, see if they can give me any more info. Not on to offer no cheap tickets at all.

The taunton one, I thought like you would not be a problem and there would be some cheap ones on by now. Likewise there are no cheap tickets cutting the journey through chelt, brum, bristol etc as there normally is.
