Hi
My Dad has undergone major heart bypass surgery earlier this year. He is making good progress but still having his graft dressing changed daily by his local comunity nurse.
My parents live in Wales and I live no where near them, its quite a long journey but I was thinking of asking my brother to drive them both down for a weekend or a week to stay with me as they havent had a break for quite some time and I think it would do them good. I have been home to vivit them several times I just think the change would help both Mum & Dad.
My question - Is it possible to arrange for someone to come and attend to my Dad's dressing whilst he is staying with me? Obviously it will be for a week at most and we are in an entirely different area to Wales.
Just wondered how easy or if at all possible this is.
Many thanks

When my mum was ill I called my/her local doctor's surgery, they had a community nurse who came out every morning to change her bandages. Perhaps you could contact your doctor's surgery and ask if they do the same?0

When I was ill I went to stay with my (then) bf in a different part of the country. My district nurse contacted the district nurse in my bf's area and arranged for my dressings to be changed while I was there.
Also, you can register your parents at your own GP practice as temporary patients, if they need medical treament or advice while they are with you.I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -
I had care for when my mother came to stay arranged via her GPs surgery. I wonder if there could be a problem with England/Wales as these days the care arrangements are not the same.0

If you ask the nurse at your Dad's local practice to give your practice a ring they will make the arrangements to come and visit having had a full handover of his medical care - he will be treated as a temporary resident to the area and is fully entitled to do this.0

It does seem a little complicated and to be honest I think my Mum would fuss and say they cant go anywhere until hes 'better'. I will have to talk to them (and naturally my brother) to see what, if anything, we can work out.
Many thanks for showing me this may be possible. I just hope I can convince them and get it to run smoothly. I need them as much as they need their little girl
Thanks
