If you're going to buy foreign currency.....

....do like I did, I checked, on the internet, for the best rate available which happened to be with TMS but I didn't want to purchase with them as that would mean paying a charge of 2.75.
I decided I wanted to buy at Thomas Exchange Global as they offer the next best rate but before buying, called them to ask if they could beat the rate I found with TMS and hey presto! a higher rate! OK, it wasn't a huge amount but it's still more :T

Sorry you've lost me on this one, just checked and:
TMS = $1.92.99 to the £
Thomas Exchange Global = £1.94.5 to the £
also I cant see any mention of this £2.75 charge on the TMS site however there is a charge of £5 with thomas exchange global.
Therefore you either need to re-read your post and edit it accordingly or pop out and get some new batteries for your calculator as your sums are wrong.
And a quick add on the postoffice inside pitsea tescos were doing US $'s at 1.95.5 to the £ and no commision.
all the best

I have no idea why your presuming i'm talking about dollars. As it so happens, the rate for the currency I wanted WAS better with TMS than TEG and as for the 2.75 charge, I would have paid the charge because I would have had to pay TMS using my Visa Debit.
Of course it's dependant on each situation but there certainly is no harm in trying to get more if you can.
If you don't understand something, you need to clarify first before making 'smart' (not) comments ok??0 -
I apologise you're right you did'nt mention what currency it was, which in turn makes your post a tad futile, after all i've just checked and thomas global exchange give better exchange rates on the 5 currencies which tms advertise, so prey do tell what currency it was that you found were at a better rate than thomas global?
