Insurance or lessons?

Just so I'm 100% sure with what you're saying...you're saying that you want to be insured as a named driver on someone elses car, but this is gonna cost £200 to do?

Firstly, £200 sounds like a lot - I don't think it cost that much to add me to my parents policy when I was learning - but I guess it depends on the value of the car etc.

Secondly, you could try shopping around for a different insurance provider - could save that way. Of course that's down to the person whose car it is to decide though.

Finally, on the OP in general...If I had the option of having 10 extra lessons or a car to practice in, I'd take the car *every day of the week* - I think by the time I took my test I was probably doing around 10 hours a week in my parents car (only for a week or so in fairness)...I only took (iirc) 15-20 paid lessons - would have needed a lot more than that without the practice between times.

£200 extra is the least I could find, after lots of searching. I think could easily end up being more like £300 before it's all sorted out.

Confirmed quote now comes to £476pa with a £150 excess, which includes me as a named driver, £328 of that is my addition. Would be less if the excess was higher.

£200 was way out unfortunately.
