Would I save on my electricity bill using economy 7

Hi,

Would be grateful for all comments on the following,

If I were to charge a bank of batteries with economy 7 electricity at night and use this for general use during the day.eg lights, microwave, washing machine etc.would I save money ?. Is it possible ? and would the cost of batteries etc make it not worthwhile ?.

You would probably need a room just for batteries.

E7 is dearer during the day, but less than half price at night

If you cooked your dinner after 11pm, and used your dishwasher and washing machine then you would probably save

(you would also need E7 heaters at £250-£350 each)

    Hi,

If the electricity was stored in batteries , why would i need to cook at night and wash at night ?. Would I have to buy the heaters ? as I would not be using the electricity for heating purposes. I am not tech minded so I have no idea how many batteries would be needed ,but a room full does sound prohibitive !!

In recent years emergency lights in large public buildings had 12V or 24V lamps dotted around the place, with a main battery room.
It took 20-40 batteries (car size) to power some piddly lamps for the required time.

The technology is not here now (for use in a domestic setting) but it will be in 5-10 years

Our Economy 7 doesn't start till 1.00am and runs till 8.00.

Why would you need E7 heaters????

We save money just by using the washer/dishwasher overnight and running the tumble drier when we get up (before 8.00am). I wouldn't go down the bank of batteries route, you'd need a lot of batteries and where would you store them?
