Virus Help Needed Please!

ok, while i was on my laptop the other night, it seems some virus got into my Yahoo (main) email account and sent spam emails to all my contacts.

i ran AVG on both my laptop and pc the next day, but nothing except tracking cookies was found. Zoe told me last night that the virus is still there, cos she got another spam email from me.

I realy dont know what to do!! The only things I could think of, was to change my yahoo email/messenger password and to delete all my contacts, which i have done. can anyone please tell me how to remove this virus? I'm upset that i've got it, cos everyone said AVG is the best (im using the new 8.0 version on both pcs)

You need to follow the Malware/Spyware Removal Guide which is a sticky at the top of the Techie board.

One further thing to bear in mind: Just because other people are receiving spam email that appears to be from you does not mean that you sent it. The sending email address is very easy to fake, so it may actually be coming from someone with your email address in ~their~ contacts list.

ive got a feeling you may have a keylogger, so try the malware guide suggested in post 2.

if you do have a keylogger, changing your password wont help until you get rid of it

ok. im running vista on this lappy........hope that doesnt make any difference to the programs ive gotta use.

no , most run on Vista

start off with downloading superantispyware , as per the instructions in the Malware Sticky, and run that and AVG in Safe mode

will take a a hour or so to run so give yourself time

ok, i will do that tomorrow then. i already have the ccleaner, spybot and adaware and they picked up nothing. as did malwarebytes.
