Humax 9200TB HDD Crash

Hi,
I've had a Humax TV HDD for about a month. After around a couple of weeks of not very heavy usage, it started to freeze..jam..stop, which then means I have to switch off at the mains and turn on again to fix it.
It has done this a few times now.
I'm disappointed because a got rid of an awful Thomson Top-up box which did this and invested in the Humax.
Is this a fault or is it something all HDD's do and we are expected to live with it?
Cheers

Get it replaced where you bought it from. Been using a Humax for ages now (think it's about a year) and never had a single problem or crash and it records 7 days a week and is used for playback 7 days a week."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Use the remote control to navigate the menus to :
1) Format the disk
2) Reset settings to factory defaults
3) rescan your channels
Worked for me when mine starting playing up.0 -
Also make sure you set it to scan for the latest firmware."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

I bought the same Humax model around two years back. Took it back and got a replacement, and then again a few months later. Similar problem to what you are having, Freezing. My most recent model freezes up to 2-3 times a week but sometimes will be okay for a week or two without any problems. So I've came to think it might not be the hardware that's at fault. Annoying but I've learned to live with it, I'd still buy another once this one kicks the bucket

And these HDD freeview boxes are still preverable to those expensive all-in-one dvd-player-recorder-HDD-freeview boxes from the likes of Sony & Panasonic as there's not one box amoungst them that has a twin digital tuner.Sealed Pot Challenge 15 #78

"..might not be the hardware", the manufacturer is responsible for the software too or do you think it might be the downloads, in which case would it depend on what channels you use?
Interesting thought Rancid cheers, DK.
