Thanks for all the ideas. I'm not really able to go to the nearest park as its right next door to the nursery they've just been kicked out off

We went to the library yesterday and I had a free DVD voucher so used that. Haven't got a printer so not able to download prints etc. Not able to get to the cinema as no funds to travel there :-(
Am going to call the swimming baths see if they do anything. The local SureStart centre has an open childrens room that runs 9:30 to 4:30 but costs £1.50 per child per day so maybe after payday (if I get paid) I could do that with them.
Thanks for all the suggestions. I think for this next week and a half until money comes in, we'll just have to read and play board games etc in the house.Made it - 15 years married!! Finally!! xx:beer:0 -
Are there any playing fields near you?0

The nursey kicked a 4 yr and 3 yr old out?? That doesn't sound good.
Make fairy cakes.
Make rice crispy cakes.
Make play dough, should be a recipe somewhere on oldstyle board I think.
Snap.
Cutting out of catalogues and glueing on paper to make a picture, my DD loves doing this for some reason.
She also loves putting wellies on and splashing in the puddles for hours!!
Simple things and listening and spending time with them makes them happy at this age.
Take care

If you're going to read, ask the children to find some favourite books then arrange them on shelves or even along the sofa/chairs. Then make a stamp (out of an empty toilet roll or a cotton reel or whatever is to hand) and let them play libraries.
You can play 'raffles' by making tickets and having their own toys to 'win' or they can win a sweetie or biscuit they've made themselves.
Sod the nursery - get down to the playpark and hold your head high. They probably won't be there at the same time as you anyway.
Going for walks is fun with little ones - stop to look at spiders and flowers and odd shaped stones - there's ALWAYS something that catches their eye, even right outside your house.
Play games like having to go from one side of the room to the other like a cow/car/rabbit/backwards/spinning etc then play sleeping lions to calm them down when it gets too giddy (who can stay lying still the longest.)May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -
My daughter (10) really wants a scavenger or treasure hunt for her birthday party. I have no idea where to start - any ideas? :rolleyes:to be rich in happiness is worth so much more than to be rich in money.... wouldn't it be nice to have the choice of both though!0

Treasure/scavenger hunt: a few ideas
A: what's the 'in' thing (toy/TV programme/book/film or whatever) for 10 year old girls at the moment? Theme the treasure hunt around something she and her friends love, ie have them hunt around the house/park for things related to this that`you've hidden.
B: If it's a nice day on her birthday you could take them to the local park/playing fields/any good nearby place and send them off on a scavenger hunt to find answers - it'll take some time to plan, cos you'll need to take a trip there first, but you can come up with questions like 'what colour are the flowers next to the pond?' 'what does the plaque next to the entrance say?' 'where is the statue/swings/whatever?' and give them a certain amount of time to collect the correct answers. Either the first team back with the correct answers wins a prize, or everyone who brings back all the correct answers within the time limit wins a small prize. Only thing being it may need some other parents to help if the area's too big for you to be able to keep an eye on them or you're not happy to let them go off and find things on their own.
c: Even on a wet day a treasure hunt can be relatively easy, especially if you can get her out of the way for a little while first - all you need is something to hide. I've used beads before with younger children - hidden them all around the building we've been in, and the first person to come back with a complete rainbow of beads wins a prize. This also works with money - you need a few coins of all denominations 1p to £1, hide them all over and the first person to come back with one of each coin wins. Only thing to bear in mind is that if you're doing this in your house it's probably best to put all breakablesplus anything you don't want runnaged through into one room, and make it very clear before they start that this particular room is out of bounds.OS weight loss challenge: 4.5/6 lbs0
