Hi
We haven't been for a couple of years now, bu have mixed views, We had a lovely time at a Hoseasons site in St Osyth, Clacton, a Haven site in Bugh Castle, Norfolk, and a fantastic place I think was called Shorefields in Hampshire (?) The last one was to Pontins in Camber Sands, Kent we only stayed one night as the accommodation was so dreadful, holey bedlinen, mould on walls and we woke to seerivers of condensation running down the walls! I know it was a cheap break but I think prison would have been more comfy! But generally they are good value for money.0 -
We have been on about 6 or 7 of these now and have, so far, been very lucky and never had any bad experiences.
We had one stay at Butlins and the rest were all Haven holidays I think. On 2 occassions we treated ourselves and upgraded but so long as you go not expecting the Ritz I dont think you should be disappointed.
I've read some horror stories on here but hopefully the good experiences far outweigh the bad ones.
We have been to Caister, Hopton, Looe, somewhere near Newquay, Hastings and Butlins and like I say all were good - we only took our own bed linen to Caister this year as we have a DD now so wanted our own stuff - we have never had a bad stained or manky looking beds or bed linen - maybe we are very lucky!
If it is only the 2 of you I'd say go for it - if you have specific parks in mind, I'm sure someone on here could tell you what it was like and give you any tips.
Good luck!0 -
Go with an open mind and you'll be fine. Expect a 4* holiday and you won't be. Most of the holidays are Haven, British Holidays or Park Resorts (all have websites). Go to The Sun's website, click on the link and you'll get a list of all the holiday parks. Then choose where you want to go and go and look up the park on the actual park website. Do this before you collect all your tokens as you'll need to send them off pronto. Once you've been on one you can then book online and you can get dates/parks you want easier. For 38.00 I'd just try it.Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0

We've been on several of these over the last 10 years or so. We try and choose sites which are independants rather than part of a big group, but still had good times at Haven or British Holidays sites. Take your own sleeping bags if you have them - saves loads of time making beds when you arrive.
If you have dogs that you want to take, check the sites own website to see if they take dogs, and ask if they take them through the Sun Holidays scheme - but don't expect to be offered an upgrade, as dogs are normally only permitted in the most basic accomodation. Also remember than the basic accomodation rarely has any form of heating in any of the bedrooms or bathrooms, which may be a bit chilly later on in the year.....
PS - don't feel pressured to buy entertainment passes if you don't want to see the evening shows or use the pool, and they you'll avoid being tempted by the one armed bandits as well. Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0 -
We've had a quick look at the offered sites. We would quite like to go abroad and the Norcenni Girasole, Tuscany looks to have some great reviews. The only problem is I can't find any cheap flights to florence which is the nearest airport. I'm rubbish at find the best way to places abroad from the airport (transfer? train? argh!). If anyones any advice, i'm currently searching for the best route myself!!!!! HELP! CheersI've just started entering the competitions (July 07). When I win I'll update this signature.
