New bath-whirlpool or not?

We are in the process of 'renovating' our house (1970s built and not well loved!!).The ensuite bathroom will be next-its large and has a bath, toilet and sink in it at the moment. We are going to put in a separate shower cubicle too.
My question is should we get a whirlpool/jacuzzi bath or just a 'normal' bath?
I'm worried that it may be a 'gimmick'!
Are they expensive to run? How easy are they to maintain/clean? How noisy are they(as it is directly above the lounge)?

My quailifications

We have a whirlpool/jacuzzi bath and a power shower
I haven't had a bath this year ,and perhaps one last year:eek:
I have two teenage daughters, one who showers and the other who uses the bath NEVER turns the jets on !
Not a great fan :rotfl:
expensiveto run?? how would I know
Clean , you will need to buy some sterlising tablets, not expensive.
Not as noisy as the power shower.
Hope this helps0 -
I had one put in few years ago when I remodeled and to be honest was an expensive novelity that wore off quickly so be honest not really worth it in the long run.I am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.0

When we did our house up we got a slightly oversized jacuzzi bath and, for us, it has been money well spent as it gets used regularly and we both love it - not too much bubble bath needed, though - the first time I used it I put in the normal amount and ended up almost drowned by the bubbles!!!0

We thought about it, but decided we'd put the additional cost it would be, towards a hot tub!
Not quite there yet, though!!

I hardly ever use mine. Go for it only if you think you will use it.0

We redid our bathroom last year and the jacuzzi looks great.....but has been used 4 times, and the piping was quite obtrusive to hide. So if I had to do it again,I wouldnt have the jacuzzi tbh.0
