Barclaycard - cheeky rate increase?

Hi,

I woke up, smelled the flowers, and swapped a few balances about recently (took as much as i could off my barclaycard and then put as much as i could back on at 6.9%)

I've jsut had a mailing from them saying that my interest rate (among other things, but i don't do cash advances etc.) will go up to 14.9% from november.

Could this possibly be a cheeky way of getting more money from me whilst I pay less interest on the transfer? has anyone else had this increase? It seems a bit of a coincidence. I've got a gold barclaycard (I don't know why - possibly for long service!) although I don't know that there is much difference apart from the colour.

I thought the rate was 12.9% but I must admit I haven't checked recently, and I haven't got anything here to check the actual figures.

The rise is from 13.9% to 14.9%, it doesn't affect your 6.9% deal, does it?

As far as I'm aware all Barclaycard customers have had a rate increase, myself included.

Not everyone has just had a 1% increase. My rate has been increased from 10.9% to 14.9% overnight. Is this the highest increase?

The money grabbing meanies have raised mine (Gold card) from 16.9% to 18.9%! This is now more than it was when I was on a standard card! How cheeky is that??!!

I got a notice in the post too on Saturday morning saying that the minimum interest charge has gone up from 50p to £1. Thats a 100% increase!

About as cheeky as building a stooze pot by exploiting the generosity and trust of the kindly credit card companies.

maybe you should call them and point this out, see if they will lower the rate? did they just send you a gold card out of the blue or did you apply for it (I don't even know if you can apply for them - mine just arrived out of the blue)?
