Filling in ALG form - GCSE question

I am currently filling in a adult learning grant form, but i am stuck on one of the questions.

On the form i have to fill in how many GCSE i have in grade A*-C and how many in D-G.

Now i know i have 6 D-G GCSE grades, but I also have a E/C in english speaking & listening, do i class it as a C grade or do i put it as a D to G grade.

I've looked on the internet and that was no help at all. Need to know ASAP so i can send this off.

any help at all will be great.

English speaking and listening is part of the the English Language GCSE so its not a separate GCSE by itself. Only your English Language GCSE will count in this case, and the speaking and listening will not count as a GCSE.
    Hope this helps.
  • Thats strange as i just checked my results i got back at school and it list it as a subject.

    English Literature - D
    Science: single award - D
    art & Design - E
    English - E
    (speaking and Listening grade D)
    Religious studies - F

    Maths - E
    History - F

then when i went to college to do my english and maths again it was like this

    English - E
    (speaking and listening C)
    Maths - D

so it will just be 7 in the D-G range then.

As you can see, the brackets are indicating its not a GCSE by itself but part of the English GCSE.

If you studied a foreign language then you would be tested on reading, writing, speaking and listening; and then graded overall. For some reason they separate out the speaking and listening component of the English GCSE on your certificate.

Don't worry about it; you're obviously eligible for ALG with what you've described.
