USA - CCards - supermarket Shopping - Cashback?

Hi
Would anyone know:

Whilst on holiday in the states, can I do my shopping at wallmart using my egg money card, then get cashback at the till, just like they do here in Asda.

Therefore avoiding not only teller fees but also cash advance fees?

Anyone?

Cheers

FTD

Are you sure you can get cashback with egg card? AFAIK cashback is available only with debit cards, but egg money is in fact credit card.

Would anyone know if American shops offer cashback when paying for goods just like our stores? There 'may' be a loophole there somewhere!!!

I'll go out on a limb here...

I'm from Michigan and although I've lived here in the UK for eons, I do go back there at least once a year to visit family. I've never been offered cashback when I've used my debit card there, I've never witnessed anybody else receiving cash back at the tills and I suspect it's not available.

I will email a friend and ask; if I find out something different I'll post here again to let you know!

No you can't get cash back at overseas tills as a general rule

I know that you definately can't in New York, Australia or New Zealand.

If you withdraw your money at Washington Mutual bank, they don't charge the usual $1/2 fee.

I assume you have read this forum for long enough to have in your possession a Nationwide Credit and Debit card to avoid all fees ?
