BA lost baggage and other problems

HI all, looking for a wee bit of advice!
We went to Rome for a short break on Wednesday and one of our cases didn't turn up at the hotel until midnight on Friday night, which was 12 hours before we were due to check out! As you can imagine it pretty much ruined our holiday as it had comfy shoes and going out outfits etc in it. (We did try to spilt our luggage but you never split it that well!)
We flew Edinburgh to Gatwick then on to Rome, all flights with BA. The telephone number they gave us at Rome didn't work, we had to call home to get someone to try to help at this end......basically it was a nightmare.
Even coming home was a nightmare.........we had been given such a short connection time, and there were so many checks to go through at Gatwick, I couldn't believe there were so many checks considering we'd just come off a flight! We had to race through the airport, even the BA desk who told us where to go for our connections said we wouldn't make it! We probably wouldn't have made it other than the fact the connecting flight was delayed.
Why on earth do they give these short connections knoing what you have to go through in the airport?!?
All in all we go back to work tomorrow and we feel we haven't had a break.
Just looking for a bit of advice on what action to take??

a sum for the essentials you had to buy.
you haven't got a valid complaint for the return journey....a nightmare is where you miss a flight and there's no further flights that day0 -
Did you keep receipts for all the essentials you had to buy in rome? Im not sure what your complaint is regarding your return flight as you made your flight. When you booked your flight you would have seen upfront what the connection time was, and been able to decide if you were comfortable with that. Just because it is offered as an option doesn't mean you have to book it.:starmod:C'est la vie:starmod:0

We had a 55 min connection time. Having never had a connection before I would have thought that was ample time to move around the same terminal building, but it clearly wasn't there were so many checks to go back through.I can't look into the future, but the futures where I'm walking to0

My main complaint is the baggage thing. Basically it pretty much ruined our holiday and I wanted to know is the best we are going to get is a refund for items we bought there?I can't look into the future, but the futures where I'm walking to0

you need to submit your receipts to BA, you can do a claim on-line and then when they request send in the original receipts, claim for everything you can including phone calls, they can only say no. In the notes section, stress how it ruined your "special" holiday etc etc, are you a BA Executive member? is so they may give you some BA miles as compensation. I claimed in April got £150 cheque and 5k BA Miles, I have just submitted another claim for a flight from last week, turn it into a postivie and claim what you can. Need any help just let me know0
