Shopping tips for Amsterdam and Bruges

Some friends and I are off on a weekend trip to Amsterdam/Bruges in a couple of weeks. We got a great deal through work social club (£145 for coach, 2 nights dinner bed and breakfast with free bar and excursions). We'll be staying just outside in Monnickendam, complete with beer and winewarehouse stop on return. I've been to Amdsterdam before so know my way around a bit and thought this time I might do some shopping.
Any suggestions about what to buy, good markets to visit in Amderstam or Bruges would be welcome please. Last time I bought some bulbs at the flower market and wished I bought more, so I'll definitely do this this time.
Other tips welcome too...
Thanks

I'll have to stick with sightseeing then (not forgetting the chocolates).
Last time I went to Amsterdam (the only time!) I brought back some bulbs and wished I'd bought more, so I'll get some of those. And some of their gin (genever?) which was nice too.somewhere between Heaven and Woolworth's0
