You do not know the full circumstances - perhaps if your cars were full of bird crap each morning, and your £2000 driveway also ruined, you would not be so flippant! I did not give them aggro at all!! I wrote to them initially to ask if there was some device they could put on these lines to stop the birds pitching on them, and after advice, I discovered that legally we did not have to have others cables over our property. What's wrong with that? They initially offered some small compensation to leave them there, but we are not after money, just to get rid, or at least reduce, the bird mess.
im afraid that you wil have to pay for the service to be undergrounded, that job will be classed as a service alteration. id check the route of the proposed serive alteration as well when it comes, as they may want to come up your drive.
im not quite sure what kind of bird poo can ruin a drive though, even if it doesnt look fantastic.:(0 -
Hi,
We've just received an initial letter from PCC regarding compensation for power lines etc, hence why I'm on the forum checking it out to see if it's legitimate. We live very close to a national grid substation and as a result we have all types of cables criss crossing our farm. All the pylons, poles and cables are there legitimately insofar as there are easements in place.
I'm seeking clarification; is the compensation for the difference in the value of the property as if the cables weren't there?
Are PCC a reputable company?
I assume that once we start with PCC we probably forfeit our right to deal direct with the electricity company.
Our electricity network company is EDF. Which department should I ask for if I want to talk to them about compensation.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
