Want a GOOD camcorder

With hdd the video footage is stored in MPEG2 or MPEG4 video files on the hard disk of the camcorder in the same way as it would be on your PC. Therefore its just a simple case of connecting via usb to your laptop and browing the internal harddisk and copying the files directly to the hard drive of your pc to get the pc backup. These files can then be directly viewed on the pc. However to get a DVD copy of the files the best thing to do is import them into a video editing software so you can chop bits out and reorganise the playback order etc and add soundtrack (mp3's). This makes any home movie footage far more watchable and doesnt take all that long if your laptop is fairly newish. Alternatively you can stick it through a convertor to burn it straight to dvd in DVD VOB files and folder format for playing on your dvd drive.
Again if all you want is a dvd backup of everything you recorded then a dvd based recorder would be much easier as you can just finalise the dvd and use it without haiving to do any editing or converting.0 -
This seems a good price

Hi emweaver,
As you have another thread on this running on the techie board I'll move this one across and ask the board guide there to merge them together.

Not all dvd players can handle MPEG-4 playback. To maximise compatibility its probably better to convert to DVD.0
