Im looking to buying a new camcorder, a HD one. Ive been told I connect these to the pc then copy the footage onto a DVD. Can anyone confirm if this is correct?

I know this sounds silly but how do I know if my laptop can burn onto dvds? no dont have the manual anymore

You will need to have a Firewire connection. More details of the laptop and impending camcorder purchase may help your cause.

The connectors between the Laptop and the Camcorder. The Dell appears to have a mini-Firewire connection, so that should do. Double check though.

You'll need some software. That may come with the Camcorder. If not, it is easy enough to obtain.
