Egg Card and Egg Money Card

in Credit cards
When Egg launched the Egg Money Card a few weeks ago I leaped upon my keyboard and immediately applied for one. Sadly in my haste I applied for an Egg Card instead of a Egg Money card by mistake - the Egg Card was dispatched efficiently to me by Egg and is working as promised.
I was not going to reapply for an Egg money card until I re-checked the extra cashback that was available with affiliate companies. The full details are here
which show (for example ) 20 % extra cashback with Virgin Wines & 10 % extra cashback with currys.co.uk. But when I checked the cashbach with the Egg Card the cash back is 50% lower. The full details are here which show (for example) only 10% cashback with Virgin Wines and 5% cashback with Currys.co.uk.
Needless to say I reapplied for an Egg Money Card sharpish.
I have no grumble with Egg over this as it was my mistake in selecting the wrong card in the first place - like wise I have no grumble with Egg on their Cashback marketing. My point is that we look at the interest rates closely, the interest free period closely, the cashback (if offered) closely etc, etc. But sometimes the "fringe benefits" & "affiliate offers" that are offered (some of which are excellant) may not get the attention they deserve.

p.s. i've dealt with Egg for several years and found them to be a VERY good company to deal with. The wrong card being sent out was my fault, and my fault alone. If anyone alse has done the same thing I suggest that they look at the pros & cons of the Egg Money card & go for it !

Am I right in thinking you have a new Egg card. If so you can surely do a balance transfer @ 0% to an interest bearing account until 0% runs out. You could even transfer it to your Egg Money Card @ 4% (for the time being I think).

Its probably best to have both. Just bear in mind there's a charge if you do a BT from the Egg (green) card.
Also you can't transfer balances directly from Egg Money to Egg Green. You need to go via a third card, or your current account.0 -
thanks for the replies. I realise that I had not been to clear in my original post.
The jist of what I was trying to say was :- I was prepared to stick with the Egg card (through apathy) until I realised I could get DOUBLE the cashback via the Egg Money Card i.e. 10% cashback from Currys.co.uk rather that 5 % with Egg Card. & also that while other cards may offer a slightly longer interest free period, or a slightly lower interest rate - a 11% discount on elctrical goods or 21% off wine is an excellant offer - the type of offer that often does not get the 'credit' it deserves.

p.s. sicker thanks for the good advice re BT, but I run manage to pay my card off in full each month.0 -
I did a BT yesterday, but I clean forgot to change the DD payment from paying the full amount every month to the minimum amount. It was a fluke that I remembered. Something else that is easy to miss on a BT.0
