Disney, best time to go and best place to stay...

I know there is a post above on Florida hints and tips buts its massive!!! Hope its ok to post this here!!!

Ok-we are a family of 7, 5 kids(between 3-8) and me and hubby.

We have decided to save our bms off and go on a blow out holiday to Disney/Florida. I have lots of quotes, varying from 3k to 15k(ouch!!!!!).

I want to know when is best to go, weather wise and least busywise(I know thats not a word lol!!!).
Also where to stay. I have been told international drive as its cheaper than Disney but just dont know what to do!!! We dont fancy a villa as neither of uus fancy driving over there and it would be expensive for a 7 seater with enough room for masses of luggage and then 5 car seats to hire.
One final question, spends! If park passes are all pre booked then is $500 a day ample to work out how much we need to save?? If we want to have a bit of a shop and really spoil the kids???
Thanks muchly for anyone that spends the time replying :)

With 7 of you a villa really would be the way to go,driving in the US is very easy, the roads are wide, gas is cheap and it is set up for drivers,no one walks or uses public transport much so without a car you are at a bit of a disavantage.

There are some lovely villas off the 192 near the disney shortcut via sherberth road....Sunset Lakes,Emerald island etc,own pool, games room and much cleaner and upmarket than the motel chain on I drive.

Would check out the dibb webiste for great tips and ideas, but i could give you a couple of villa owners details where we have stayed.

I would stay overnight at Universal though, to get a front of line pass, well worth it and the hotels are great, perhaps on your last or first night in the US.

Food is cheap, and so are restaurants so your daily budget seems fine.

If you go on the dibb site and look caref ully there are lots of tips for doing things the average UK tourist will not know about.....best places for Fantasia, how to get a place on a boat to watch the fireworks etc.

have a look on the orlando forum on trip advisor- it has many families from the uk who are planning their trips and should be able to give you some pointers.
