Has anyone got a bath with centre taps/waste

I've been looking at bathroom suites and am wondering about a bath where the taps and waste are in the centre rather than at the end of the bath.
I'm wondering if the plug would get accidentally dislodged or be uncomfortable in any way.
I'm sure OH will come up with an objection of this sort as he's not always keen on new ideas, preferring the tried and tested

no probs with the plug, but have a leak in the pipework, and its the biggest pain to try and get to, as the bath will have been sealed in, and tiled around. You would have to remove the bath, to get behind it to the pipework, so not a quick/cheap fixer

Hi, in my last house which was a new-build we opted for a bath with centre taps - never again!!, always found the bath did not drain well, and would also make it awkward to put a shower over bath should you want to (I think). I personally wouldn't go for this type again.0

We have one with centre taps - no problems at all - separate shower head above it unconnected to the bath tap.
As it is a free standing bath no issues about getting to any of the plumbing either.
I must admit it is the first time we have ever had one like this and we think it is great - nice and easy to top up the hot water without stretching to far and you can lie at either end depending on how the mood takes you0 -
I'm glad I asked!
OK, I think I'll cross that one off my list then :rotfl:
Thanks.

Sorry mymatebob, our posts crossed. It wouldn't have been a freestanding one so I think any potential repairs to plumbing would certainly put OH off. Glad yours has worked out well.0 -
Not actually used it yet, but at our last house we had centre taps, sometimes you could jab yourself in the side, if you don't watch what you're doing, when shampooing your hair!!
Here is the new bathroom - yet to try it, as I say ...

Shouldn't be too much bother, if we did need to access the pipes, as there is space both ends.

We've recently put a new bathroom in and opted for centre taps on our bath. We chose a push-pop waste (not the same as the twist-the-overflow and pop out waste) - it's not intrusive and doesn't get in the way at all.
We did have a problem with a leak after it had been fitted; and actually ended up with having to cut a hole in the wall into the bedroom to access the pipework. That said, it was covered by the bed and now has an easy-access opening left on it for future emergencies. To be honest, the bath is enclosed on three sides so wherever we'd placed the taps would've caused upheaval to fix anything.
With a separate shower at one end I sometimes wish I'd gone for end taps as the taps do get a lot of water spray during showering. That said, I wouldn't change them now!0 -
I've got one. The bath is huge as the ends are quite straight (is it double ended?). This is no problem for the shower at one end, and doesn't cause trouble with the plug in the middle.
The biggest problem is that it's so big it takes an age to fill and takes a whole tank of hot water!Do not allow the risk of failure to stop you trying!0
