I have just spent most of the day with youngest daughter aged 12 who wanted to choose birthday presents for her twin sisters herself. Also had to get present for another sister to give one of them as she did not have time to go out.
We got what we wanted but "my feet are killing me!""This site is addictive!"

wow there are some lovely stories on here about nice christmas surprises, and not so nice christmas surprises. I have to give a list to my family of things I want....I get moaned at for months, never know what I want and as soon as christmas is over I realise the things I really do need!! Ah well, I have numerous gifts that I don't want/need - I just store them if I think they will have some use or pass them onto people who could use them!!! Not sure about this year, but have been trying toreduce the cost year on year!! I'm off to check the ingredients for home made bits and bobs!!!0

She earns twice as much as me but she is so tight with money and always crying poverty. There is money saving and there is mean ,and she is mean. I would rather get a card than one of her presents .
If this was me I would say to her that we shouldn't bother struggling to buy presents for each other any more and just send a card. This way she won't give you any more naff presents and you have one less present to buy too. I have made similar arrangements over the years with relatives whereby we only buy for each others kids and not each other etc. There's nothing wrong with cutting down like this. No point arguing with her about how much she earns, just agree that you are both broke and can't afford it.0 -
Does anyone know of any of charities etc which do the same sort of gifts as Oxfam unwrapped? Think it's a fantastic idea and OH's probably going to get his parents a goat for Christmas - he never knows what do get them and thinks his mum at least will like the idea. Just wanted to know if there were any other things like this so we've got the full choice of things before we decide. CheersInitial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000

Think that you should get him to try it out, just to make sure that it has been fitted properly, am sure you wouldn't want to ruin his handywork!0 -
