ASDA Misprice/Overcharge policy

Went on the lookout for PG TIPS Wallace and Grommit mugs last night popped into ASDA to check, got 8 of them (although one has broken handle and will have to go back), got to say they are as cool as a Polar Bear with an ice cream, especially when the nose goes red with the hot tea in it), kids love them, got a few so will have replacements when they get damaged and broken, which is inevitable in my house.
Out of curiosity thought I'd look at meat aisle and see if Mr ASDA was as bad as Mr T. Came to the conclusion that a pricing error in ASDA is harder to find than a MSEr who hasn't been into Mr T's and obtained an overcharge refund.
I think this is due to fact the SEL labels in meat aisle mainly say 'as priced' indicating the product is the price reference. I suppose the price integrity is maintained at the expense as Mr A not being able to have so many promotions, via the SEL label and promotional labels. Result less sales but better price integrity.
I believe that in the unlikely event you are overcharged then you get a £2 gift card per item for your trouble, and the difference. Had this once with a product, think it was a reduced item went through at full price, gave difference and £2 gift card as an apology.

As with Mr T though, you don't get if you don't ask! I haven't had many misprises from Asda, only a couple, but I've never been offered the £2 giftcard. You have to specifically ask for it!0

You don't need to ask for the £2.00 gift card.
I purchased 2 bottles of Herbal Essences shampoo and 2 Conditioners, They were BOGOF, but the went through the checkout at full price, Customer services gave me a refund for 2 bottles and a Christmas savings card with £2 added to it.0 -
Interesting. I hadn't heard of this before. Tesco used to refund the full price paid not just the difference, and I'll admit that once or twice I deliberately didn't mention overprices I'd spotted until the transaction was completed, so that I could take advantage of this. They probably still have that policy, but I haven't shopped there recently since I've decided they're evil.
Morrisons have not continued the policy of the Safeway stores they took over, which used to refund and replace any item you had a problem with, so I imagine you'd get a refund and keep the item if you were overcharged, but sadly Morrisons don't do that. I returned a moudly loaf of bread which was supposed to stay fresh for several days, which I'd bought reduced to clear, and they wouldn't even replace it with another loaf of the same type. They only refunded the reduced price, which wasn't enough to replace the faulty item.
Yesterday I got charged for a reduced item at £2.49 when I bought no such item. An item reduced to 99p, which I presume had previously been reduced to £2.49, had the old reduced barcode showing under the new one, so I think both labels had scanned at the checkout. I didn't notice until I checked my receipt, having realised that my shopping was about £2-3 more than it should have been. I had to show the contents of all my bags at the customer service desk to show that I had no £2.49 reduced item, then I still had to wait minutes for a refund of the overcharge.0 -
I have found Morrisons to be terrible for redressing errors also.Almost every time I have shopped there,I have found overpricing.
You have to queue at customer services and they only return the price difference, often going to check every one while you wait and wait for ages.
One week It took so long, I missed my sons school bus and had to drive 12 miles round trip to fetch him.The customer services assistant did not even apologise and treated me as an inconvenience.
That's why I rarely go there any more.0 -

I'm not sure this applies any more. (waits to be corrected)
I've probably had £200 from my local ASDA over the last 3 years in £2 "donations" but wasn't offered one for the 1st time about 2 weeks ago.
Instead of being given the refund for an "overcharged amount" of just the overcharge (plus the £2 inconvenience) I was given a full refund and told to keep the product.
When I enquired about the £2 "thing" as previously offered, I was told that had ceased as a policy and that this was a nationwide change.
So just to clarify if I didn't explain very well.......
Old policy ...
Charged £1 for 50p item - given 50p back + £2 on gift card (inconvenience)
New policy
Charged £1 for 50p item - given £1 back and you keep the item.
That being the case, the new policy is better for any item where the real price is more than £2.
eg. Charged £3 for £2.50 item = 50p refund + £2 on card so "cost" = 50p
Now £3 refund so FREE.
Not sure if this has a maximum limit to it or will apply to the £99 TV that should have gone through at £89.
If anyone knows any different or has had an alternate offer please post as I'd like to know if my ASDA CS information is true/accurate/nationwide/etc...There are 10 types of people in the world. ‹(•¿•)›(11)A104.28S94.98O112.46N86.73D101.02(12)J130.63F126.76M134.38A200.98M156.30J95.56J102.85A175.93

I didn't know they did this in ASDA. I bought a tent (long story - reduced from £18 to £5) and was overcharged something ridiculous like 78p. Customer Services man only gave me 78p back. I'd've asked about gift card if I'd've know. Had to queue for ages as well.
Ah well you live and learn.

Does this mean that they are bringing it in line with Tesco's policy, of return and refund if an item is overhcharged ?Drat and Double Drat, curse that Mr T excuse for not giving me a refund.

Not good enough, it's time for all these supermarkets to get some serious inconvience of there own via trading standards, if they are unable to get it right and rectify it promptly. I have had enough of them abusing there dominant position of the market and then mispricing regularly aswell. (with the exception of ASDA who I believe are about as good at CS as it can get overall).Drat and Double Drat, curse that Mr T excuse for not giving me a refund.
