Hi folks
Being a Glaswegian I am completely out my depth here - going to see a show in The Strand Theatre, London on the 8th August. Can people give me some hints about good hotels to stay in, in and around this area. Not looking for anything to plush! Looking to stay the 8th and 9th. Also a bit of advice required how to get to London. Would prefer to fly - cheapest flight I have come up with is 85 pounds from Glasgow International to Heathrow (BMI). I know I could get cheaper flights if I fly with the likes of Ryanair - but that means flying to Stansted - think I might end up getting lost, making my way to theatre, or is it relatively easy??
And would the cheaper flight end up more expensive, the time I add on my travel costs into central London??
Hotel and flights would be for two adults
Thanks people:T

Bit confused as your title says the Strand Theatre and your post says the Savoy Theatre, which are you going to?
If you fly to Stansted then you need to get the Stansted Express to Liverpool Street Station, alternatively you can get the coach into London. The Stansted Express is around £24 per person.
If you fly to Heathrow you still have to get into Central London, you can get the Heathrow Express to Paddington Station or you could get the tube into London. Heathrow Express is around 15 mins whereas the tube is considerably longer but is also cheaper.:j Debt free since 31/01/08:j

Edit I would suggest you stay at the holiday inn kensington forum £109 + vat for 2 nights . It is beside the tube station piccadilly line ( from heathrow) and a few stops from Covent Garden .Covent Garden is 5 minute walk from the theater"Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many"0
