Changing a Kitchen Tap

I am putting in a new kitchen sink with a monobloc tap which is nearly the same as the one I am taking out.
My water tanks are in the loft so what I was thinking was if I turn the water off under the sink and drain off the water will it drain off both hot and cold
water to enable the taps to be changed???

No real need to drain the tank in loft. If there are no shut off valves below the tap, just shut off the cold main and tie up the ball valve in the loft tank. Open hot and cold to check the water is offf and change the tap. This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0 -
Rather than trying to get to the tank in the loft if i have the mains cold water shut off and run off the water could I also just turn the hot water tap on as well and and run this off.

My theory is if the cold water is off it will stop the water coming into the house so they will be no water to fill the hot tank making it possible to drain from the tap.
You can tell I know nothing about water.

Yes that would be fine. Whatever system you use just make sure no water is flowing from the taps before you unscrew anything. You may need to open the taps when you turn on again to get any air out of the pipes.Good luckThis is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0 -
Just thought I would let you know the new kitchen sink and taps were done today with the help of my brother in law.I turned the water off and ran both taps worked fine left every tap open when turned back on no air locks.
