Best Kitchen Bin to Buy

When you have six people living in a house, and a labrador who has a habit of wearing a swing-bin lid round his neck at any given opportunity!

We have worn out a pedal bin (from Tesco). Is it worth the money buying a Brabantia, or is there a better option? (yes, we do recycle :D )

I've got a Brabantia and they are nowt special for the money. No better than any other s/steel pedal bin.Last time i was in Aldi they were selling one just like mine but it was a lot cheaper.

BTW,someone bought me the Brabantia, wouldn't spend that much on a bin personally.Think it was thirty odd quid.

we got a stainless steel 50ltr bin from one of the shopping channels (think it was bid up tv), worked out to £30 delivered, the best thing about it is you don't even have to touch it to open it, you just wave you hand in front of it to open it :D, argos charge about £70 for a 30ltr one.

    infact here its is

Do you REALLY need a bin - I HATE storing trash & yuk, in the house, so make more than my fair share of treks to the outside bin & just don't have any in the kitchen.

We've got a 30litre stainless steel pedal bin that came from Tesco (not sure what we paid but pretty sure it wasnt more than £25) with an inner plastic bin that we line with standard black bin bags. Looked at the brabantia one's at the time and nearly passed out at the price tags - seemed like literally throwing your money in the bin!
Our whippet is always licking at it but so far hasn't figured out how to open it - not yet anyway!. Not convinced the automatically opening bin suggested by kevstir would be a good idea with a dog about - i know our dog would figure it out in less than a minute and would proceed to scatter the contents around our house!

Only thing i'd say about the stainless steel bins is they get dirty and smeary on the outside pretty quickly - though they come up nice with a damp microfibre cloth.

Some good Brabantia style bins to be had on Bid-Up.TV they have the 50 Litre infrared stainless steel bins. The one you wave your hand over to open so don't even have to touch it to open.

I love my Brabantia - whereas other bins have always broken and/or been annoying in some form, the Brabantia is over four years old and still going strong. Whilst I would have always questioned the price tag, it was on our wedding list. If I do have to purchase a new bin, it will be a Brabantia :o

Brabantia support is superb as well my lid got broke by my son after 3 years, called them up said the hinge had broke and they sent a complete new lid FOC arrived within the week and still going strong.

The Bin bags are not cheap though but you can buy online in bulk for a reasonable price.

I really fancy this one, it looks delicious, but I need to find it much cheaper than £105 before it finds space in my kitchen!!
