America, coach/train tour, older people, need advice pls

Hiya,

Sorry about the strange thread title, I wanted to be as descriptive as I could in a short space of time.

I'm trying to find out what's available for:

2 people in their 70's (so nothing too hectic or too widespread)
to see New York, Washington, maybe other places
Coach/train tour (not hiring a car - too tiring to drive themselves)
If poss, going from Manchester
September this year

Most of the tours are quite hectic, and I wonder if there are companies who organise a slower paced holiday, maybe over 8 nights.

It would be handy to include things like guided tours round the places of interest where wanted, and breakfast and evening meal. Anything really which would just take over having to organise it yourself whilst out there, leaving all your time and energy for seing the places you want to see.

Does anyone have any ideas where I could start to look?

Thanks in advance
xx

Have a look at Cosmos. Friends of mine did a coach tour in June which covered all sorts of places in US although not those that you have mentioned but it did include organised visits, for instance to Gracelands and all meals. They did have to fly to London Heathrow though but I'm sure you'll find something from Manchester.

They were originally booked with the company that went bust at the end of last year but found the same on Cosmos and were able to add on an extra week in Florida.

    Hi Mumstheword

later on this year my Dad is having this trip that is organised by TitanHiTours. I know that it is not in the part of the world that you are thinking of, but these holidays by Titan are !

The only downer is that the holidays start/finish at Heathrow/Gatwick, but you get the choice of either a chauffeur driven vehicle that collects you from your home and delivers you to/from Heathrow/Gatwick, or an internal flight from your local airport to/from Gatwick. In other words from the moment that you leave home, to the moment you get home, you are fully escorted by someone from Titan :j:j

The holidays aren't cheap, but IMO they represent superb value for money, especially for people who wish to have the 'hassle' taken from them. IIRC, the holidays are Room Only, but all of the hotel locations are very, very close to places where breakfast & evening meals are VERY easily found.

    happy hunting !

p.s. this thread has a few ideas as well.

Thanks both, I've had alook on those sites and printed off some details, and ordered some brochures.

The Cosmos one and Archers one (think it was those 2) are the same holiday, exactly the same write up etc, which I spose is bound to happen as companies sell as agents.

    Thanks for you rhelp xx
