There was some kind of 2-part DIANA, PRINCESS OF WALES DVD set with the Daily Mirror last week, redeemable at Somerfield.

My mother is the assistant manager of a Somerfield store and she says there are absolutely TONS left over. Store policy is to wait until this weekend (the anniversary of her death) and give them away free to customers who make a donation to charity when purchasing goods in the store.

I imagine Somerfield's policy will be be nationwide. So get down to your local store and get a copy ASAP!!! :beer:

I remember when these were on TV a few years back and they Murder Rooms series was excellent. They are not Sherlock Holmes adventures per se.
Ian Richardson stars as Dr Joseph Bell, a professor at the University of Edinburgh who is also an amateur detective and helps the Scottish police from time to time. Arthur Conan-Doyle was his real-life assistant and Bell was the inspiration for the Sherlock Holmes character.

Make sure you grab a copy of each of them. Excellent high-quality period drama and every episode keeps the suspense going right until the last scene.

Sorry to introduce a spot of deja vu on a weekend but has anyone received their d.v.d.s yet ? The order form mentioned allowing 35 days for delivery and it's been 5 weeks to the day today so I've just emailed them.
I wondered if, as Wogan would say, "Is it me ?" or is this a sequel to the Barclays Tax Beater I.S.A. blockbuster.

My mother who works in Somerfield managed to get me the first week's DVDs today. Here are this week's titles:

DA VINCI DECLASSIFIED - The myths, truths and conspiracy theories behind Dan Brown's book "The Da Vinci Code"

NOSTRADAMUS: THE TRUTH - A look at how Nostradamus accurately predicted World War II and The World Trade Center attacks. Experts investigate his background and writings and the meaning behind his predictions.

THE LOCH NESS MONSTER - Examines the story behind the Loch Ness monster with footage of the alleged creature as well as interviews and eye-witness accounts of people who have claimed to have seen it.

BIGFOOT - Researchers investigate the story of a "Bigfoot" sighting in California in 1967. This programme investigates whether it was a hoax or true as many people still claim.

MUMMIES REVEALED - Explores the techniques and rituals of mummification throughout the ages in Ancient Egypt and in some South American civilizations. Also how mummification is still practiced today in the 21st century.

GIANT SQUID - Is is possible that sea legends are accurate and giant squids existed in the 19th century and were responsible for the sinking of many ships. Scientists investigate whether this is possible.


I watched the first one tonight (Nostradamus) and it was quite good. All are Discovery Channel documentaries and each one lasts for 45 minutes.

Also, as well as the DVD you will also receive a double-sided A4 laminated factcard with information which relates to the programme.
