Thanks OP, some absolute turkeys but a couple of classics too. I had forgotten how good Human League's DARE is. Looking forward to Dexy's and Heaven 17, the Marillion album is a classic, already got it.

But, boy how grubby do I feel having to buy the Daily Hate, hope no-one I know sees me buying it.

    FREE CD ....

... well it will be after you've downloaded this and burned one ....

    .. or just keep it as a MP3 !

Courtesy of The Radio Times - An AUDIO BOOK

TESS OF THE D'URBERVILLES by THOMAS HARDY narrated by PETER FIRTH

Unabridged and lasting 14 hours and 45 minutes

    Worth £29.99

Download available until Tuesday September 16th 2008.

What a complete parp this is. I tried downloading all the software etc but using Firefox you have to make adjustments to the download settings. All I managed to download was a very small file and can't seem to get the book to download at all. The audible software also tells me I have missing DLL's and won't install either. I gave up eventually! Probably geared up for XP but I still use ME and have no intentions of changing.
Shame as I quite fancied hearing this. Peter Firth played Angel Clare in the Roman Polanski film version, Tess, so it should be good if you can be bothered sorting out the download problems.

Here's an alternative. Choose to stream not download the files. Use the Freecorder toolbar ( http://www.download.com/Freecorder/3000-2168_4-10286473.html )to record your computer's audio output as you play the files - and you end up with an mp3.

And of course, you can find (literally) thousands of audiobooks, for free at www.librivox.org Which is perhaps a more sustainable alternative!

Tess of the D'Ubervilles is currently 86% complete - http://librivox.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=13042

    Hope this helps.

    :)

Thanks, I did consider recording it as it streamed, I often do that from BBCiplayer, but it is nearly 15 hours long!! I was hoping to put it on my ipod and listen from there but the audible software just will not install on my system. I'm sure it's my hardware/software setup which is incompatible so don't let me put other people off. Seems a lot of work to go through though.

I guess I just need the payee for the cheque and the address...?

I have collected the tokens, but todays paper doesn't have the details printed.
