Help with Mozilla Thunderbird!

Hi!

Can someone help a techno~numpty please!?!?!

I use Mozilla Thunderbird as my email account. I have three email addresses configured and have no problem in sending or receiving my mail. However, as I travel frequently, I would like to know if I can customise Thunderbird to automatically send a reply message when I am away. Naturally I want to switch this on and off when required, and change the content of the message.

I am sure this is quite easily done, but I can not figure it out.

Any help gladly received.

Thanks

Phil

actually it's not :) not many (if any at all) standalone email clients have this feature - outlook has it when connected to an exchange server.

there is a way: http://www.extensionsmirror.nl/index.php?showtopic=1910 and the info is there but from a quick read of it it's not the first thing i would recommend to a 'techno~numpty' (;)) as it involves editing text files to set up filters and so on.

(additionally, for this to work you would have to leave your pc on permanently - maybe you do already i don't know.)

on the other hand if you get your email account through your isp they usually have the option to set such a message in the web based clients they offer - for example i know NTL does. is that a feasible option?

  • Hi smcicr

Thanks!! Doesn't look good then does it!?!?! I use tiscali as my isp, but I dont use any of the free email accounts. I have three domain names and use these for emails for my different business interests. just hoped there was some facility that would let me do this within the email programme! No such luck :-(
    Thanks anyway for your help.
