I don't think so, but he could phone local education authority or student loans and ask them.
It would be different if the studying abroad was part of your course, say a year in France for a French degree, or doing a year in Europe as part of the Erasmus programme.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
My student daughter will have the opportunity to undertake a 6 week work based challenge, abroad, in the Spring. However, if she gets the placement she hopes for she will need to raise approximately £2000 to fund it. Her studies are quite time consuming- please could anyone suggest potential sources of grants/ fundraising? All ideas gratefully received!!! Thanks0

Lots of students do projects like your daughter and of the people I know who have gone ahead and done these, they have used their own savings, part time work, raised money through fundraising, like doing sponsored events but unfortunately in England there aren't any organisations that fund such things. The only thing I could advise is if it prolongs her course longer than normal then she would be entitled to a bit more student loan. Definitely worth enquring with the university and applying for an access to learning fund through them if you are on a low income.

I think she would be entitled if it was a one year placement for anywhere in the world, but the whole course, no, definitely not. He would have to go through the loan system of that country and I don't imagine he would get anything. Does he have rich parents!!??0
