BT Home Hub - Security

Hi guys,

I have this morning started using the BT Home Hub for my wireless but have the following question/concern:
I am very keen to make my PC as security proof as I can but cannot seem to find anywhere to add my Encryption number sand make it WEP or WAP enabled:confused:
Does the hub have it automatically enabled and I don't need to do anything or am I looking in the wrong area.

I have read the booklet and it is not exactly easy to know, although it does say to access the home hub and I should see what settings are enable, but when I type 'bthub.config', it can't find the page.

Wireless, phew, should have stayed with what I knew!!!!

it has Wep (only 64kbit) enabled as default , the wep key is on the back of the Hub

the area to access to beef this up is under

    http://bthomehub.home/

    advanced

the user id and passwords are admin unless you changed it

look under wireless and then security

Thanks Browntoa but it asks for a 'Speedtouch' password when I try to access the 'Advanced Configuration' page, any ideas where I get that as I have tried my BT password and username with no luck.

Also, reading the info, I need to enable WPA, any ideas whether I will be able to do this and also cjhange my SSID. ??????

Ohhh, I am getting real techno nerd now:T

ukmike is right. The latest hub uses the serial number minus the part in brackets. The serial number is either on the back or the bottom.

    Hi guys,

I just had to enter the Serial Number from the hub and then the username and password of the 'Admin' so it appears you use all three bits.

    Ser No ******
    Username ADMIN
    Password ADMIN

but still have problems with the 'Speedlink' request.

    Any help offered?

is this a hub supplied by bt or a "unlocked" version?, think the unlocked one uses a blank password or the word "password"

Not sure what you mean "having problems with speedtouch request"?
You are heading towards the right place to configure your wireless but i guess you already know that.
Seem to remember my unit came with uPNP switched on which meant little config was required and the hub was identified correctly as the bt-hh.
Was your previous router a speedtouch? that would explain the id confusion as its likely they use the same ip address.

yes i knew that but it's not an unlocked one,, as i said mine correctly identified itself on my network as a bt home hub and not as a speed touch one, just thought it a bit odd OP's wasn't doing the same.
