I have 250 Bradford & Bingley Shares and have recently had a letter saying I can sell them back to B&B at a special offer for one month. Is it best to hang on to them or sell them and put the money elsewhere.

You might like to also bear in mind that B&B is one of the highest yielding shares on the FTSE - its forecast yield is 5.2%. Divi income is tax free to basic rate taxpayers, no need to put them in an ISA.Trying to keep it simple...0

I think the above quote is misleading. Dividend income is not free to basic rate taxpayers and should be grossed up, and added to your income for the tax year.
It could well be that if you only have a few shares here and there then there is no further tax liability but it is certainly not free.
