HELP! No water upstairs

Hi All, I am in desperate need of some help/advice.
Basically upstairs i have no water (well just a dribble) coming out of the cold water taps. The hot water is fine but this is fed from hot water tank.
I have no money to call out a plumber let alone pay for it to be fixed
.
Me and DH have had a look and we have found that there seems to be a block in the water pipe somewhere between the tank in the loft down to where the stop valve is. the length of this section of pipe is about 6 foot ( and in a really awkward place). We tried banging it with a hammer to try and dislodge the blockage to no avail. Does anyone have any advice on how we can try to sort it out?? Am in desperate need. Thanks.
