Credit agency cannot find my address...

I want to move credit cards and have recently moved house. I've made sure that I am registered to vote at this address, but apparently neither Equifax or Experian can find my address! I've tried to check my credit report on-line with Equifax, but I can't even register as they can't find my address. I have a mortgage at this address, and I'm on the electoral roll. I'm not sure where to go now.... thx

    Phone them - Experian 0800 656 9000 (Mon-Fri 9am-6pm, Sat 9am-1pm)

You might have to get them to correct it. Have you tried registering with your old address?

If you moved recently, it's possible your local electoral services dept. have yet to update the credit reference agencies.

You can inspect the electoral roll at your nearest public library. I would pay particular attention to the way your details are recorded. An extra line may be inserted/omitted if, for instance, you use a housename or live in a block of flats.

When you say they can't find your address, do you mean they can't find any record of you living there or they can't verify that the address exists?

If it's the latter, try going to royalmail.com and using the address finder facility - put in your postcode and see what address it comes up with. Many organisations will use this method to check that the address is a valid one. Mine was coming up wrong (the bed and breakfast down the road!) and I had to contact the Royal Mail to get them to correct their records. You'd think the Post Office would know every address in the country correctly, but not so! Hope this is helpful

It might also be worth looking what address is shown on your council tax bill.
Royal Mail get their address data from local authorities, who initially use their council tax billing address lists to build up the database.
