Transfer Of Animal Friends Insurance Policies

You need to remember that the 20% discount is only for a year and then upon anniversary you may see a jump of almost 30% to bring you back in line...if there have been any claims in that time then it makes it harder to change to another company.0
-
I'm going back on the transfer for now. I've read http://www.labradorforums.co.uk/ftopicp-606546.html
And one poster reckons E&L direct are not as good as via AF.
I think I'm entitled to cancel AF if I want to. I am going to dig out the policy and shop around.0 -
Next year I will make a note to SHOP AROUND as I always do this with the cars and house but for some reason never for pets since we got them 5 years ago.
Do remember that if you have to make a claim, you'll be stuck with that E&L policy for life (as you'll face exclusions if you do transfer).
It won't take long to do a quick shop around now, although you likely won't beat the E&L premium, especially with that first year discount.0 -
Please please google something like 'reviews of e&l' before you make a decision either way. When I had my loft converted back into a loft, the neighbours came around and scoffed, and called me retro.0

I shall phone AFI now and get some clarification about everything.0 -
Customers should now have received another letter from E&L. They are now offering discounts on their policies and/or a contribution to animal charities to retain your business!
However, the bulk of the letter seeks to dispute or 'clarify' information in the letter issued by AFI. It states that Red Sands are owned by Hollard Insurance Group, based in South Africa - who own shares in AFI. Hollard are owned by Capricorn (a European managed Global Investment group registered in the British Virgin Islands and owned by a discretionary family trust).
Quite frankly I don't think any of customers are interested in this dispute, we just want to know we have valid & reliable pet insurance which will continue for the lives of our pets and that payments will be processed promptly and efficiently if we need to claim!
All I want is a truthful, accurate & objective account of this situation so I can decide where I should place my custom.0 -

tell me about it - if I didnt have pre-existing conditions then I would be telling them both where to go at this point!0 -
just had a little search and RSPCA in Oz and South Africa have their policies underwritten by Hollard Insurance so they cant be that bad! Cant find much else out or any reviews though0

Hi
As a director of Animal Friends I am very sorry that our valued customers have been dragged into all this, its so unnecessary. We've posted a brief explanation of the situation at:-
http://www.animalfriends.org.uk/other_afi_content/existiong_el_clients.html
There's no real need for confusion or danger of getting charged twice. The solution is simple. If you want to remain an Animal Friend - and we certainly hope you do! -then simply follow what we say at our link and your cover will seamlessly continue without further fuss.
Also our new underwriters have agreed to continue to pay out for existing conditions for our customers who have lifetime cover and who have already made a claim for an ongoing condition.
Best wishes
