When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free.
Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.
Today i will:
Catch up with everyone later, hi to all the regulars and welcome to any new posters:hello: :hello: :hello:

So far I've spent nothing - but it's not even 9 o'clock and I haven't got out of bed yet! My plan is a no-spend day by catching up on the washing and drying it outside and tackling the jungle/garden. Making the most of my day off as I'm back at work tomorrow doing overtime to help the finances.0

Hello Again!
I am going for a NSD today. It is pouring with rain so going to have a bit of a catch up day so I am planning on the following:- Clicks
- Putting things on Amazon/Ebay
- Laundry (we have a mountain of it!)
- Paperwork
- Planning free things to do when on holiday
- Re-potting plants in the greenhouse
- Cooking and baking up a storm (lots of reduced foods to use
- Updating my gift lists
- Face my very untidy bedroom
Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Today I have (or will have by this evening…!):
- Done piggyclicks and lightspeed checks
- Checked internet banking
- Bought 2 birthday cards (for an 8 year old and a 12 year old) – picked these up in Asda for 97p each, but one went through the till at £1.34 so got a 37p refund from Customer Services and £2 put onto my Christmas card for the mistake. Result: 2 “free” cards and I was paid 6p for removing them from the store – yippee!! :j
- Done some batch cooking for the freezer
- Cooked dinner this evening using ingredients bought from M&S “dine in for £10”. Not very MSE/DFW on the surface, but my till receipt shows that the ingredients would have been £17.26 at full price, and it is our wedding anniversary tomorrow so we are doing this instead of going out for a meal. And we couldn’t have got 2 courses and a bottle of wine for £10 anywhere else!
- Walked to B&Q and bought some bits and pieces so that Mr P can continue his DIY projects (making some “home improvements” at the moment…short term expenditure hopefully leading to long-term gain!)
- Must chase up the extra day’s work for next week that I was offered on Tuesday (they either want me on Wednesday or Thursday and were supposed to confirm which, but I have heard nothing, so I think a subtle text reminder might be in order…
)
- Maybe another load of washing (where does it all come from?!) which can be dried on the airer if the weather continues to be a bit “iffy”…

Good afternoon everyone,
Feeling a bit more 'with it' today, we have emptied garage into a storage unit, so hopefully can load it up with the boxes which are EVERYWHERE in the house and driving me mental.
Today I have:
Bought HUGE roll of bubblewrap cheap from storage place, and done lots of packing of breakables.
Bought reduced bread in Somerfield to make bacon/egg butties for workers
And I will:
Take freezer stuff round to my friend's so I can defrost freezer
Bubble wrap all pictures/mirrors
